Whoa, whoa, hey! [ Beau doesn't know much about animals, but she figures -- well, she guesses -- she hopes that this one does not need a punch to the face like she would any other three headed beast.

She's dashing over to the table when she hears Persephone -- Cerberus! Bad dog! -- and just goes straight into animal handler mode, for whatever good that does her. In the case of Beau, it means attempting to physically restrain the dog, throwing her arms around the shoulders where the other three necks sprout from and attempting to push back. ]

Come on, dog, listen to your mom.

[ It is a nice attempt on Beau's part but Cerberus is determined to get at that jerky. So determined, in fact, that his form begins to grow larger in an attempt to dislodge the woman clinging to him.

She does slow him down enough for Persephone to get in front of him, hands on her hips as she glowers up at the beast. ]

Cerberus. [ Her tone every bit like her mother's any time she had scolded her as a child. There will be no arguments here, not even from the Guardian of the Underworld.

Cerberus lets out a soft whine and shrinks back down as he sits. Persephone keeps up the strict facade for a few moments before letting out a relieved sigh and turning to Beau. ]

I'm so sorry about him. [ She glances around before reaching out to place a hand on Cerberus' central head. ] Um, I should probably take him and go.

[ Beau keeps at least one hand on the beast, even through the growth and shrink of the creature, just in case he makes another move towards the smorgasbord of food on offer. But Persephone seems to have it under control, so when the goddess touches the dog's head, Beau lets go of her own connection to it. ]

Nah, stay! Just... I don't know. Give him a bone and tie him up outside? Would that work?

Are you sure?

[ She feels absolutely out of place and doesn't really know anyone here. Not to mention, any time a large enough crowd gets together sexy things seem to happen. Which just makes the entire situation even more awkward. ]

I'm not going to do that to him. But, um, if you have some meat that should satisfy him for the time being.

[ The beast is more likely to wander off after a bit to hunt down some geese. ]

[ Beau for her part isn't thinking of any sexy escapades happening at the party. At least not anywhere people can see. The Nein are pretty good about keeping their serious affections not very public.

But she doesn't want to force Persephone to stay somewhere she's not comfortable. So she shrugs. ]

Your call. But figure it can't hurt to give him something to chew on, so... [ She surveys the feast put on thanks to Gilmore and grabs a nice looking haunch of meat to offer to Persephone to give to Cerberus. ]

[ Persephone glances around, she doesn't recognize anyone she can see out in the yard. Which just makes her feel even more like she shouldn't be here. ]

M-maybe for a little bit. [ Long enough for Cerberus to eat, at least.

She takes the meat and leads the hound away from the table to a corner of the yard. ]

Sit. [ A command the beast happily follows, though his gaze is laser-focused on the meat in Persephone's hand. Once he sits she lets him have at the food and lick the grease from the fingers. ]

[ The monk frowns slightly. The stammer and the way she looks around don't exactly fill Beau with confidence.

She grins faintly, watching the goddess with the beast of a dog. ]

You're good with him. [ The observation comes out sounding a little impressed. ]

I'm... actually real shit with animals, for the most part.

[ragingnature]

[ If there is one thing Persephone is lacking, especially lately, it's confidence. She's alone here, and feels even more alone in situations like this. ]

It helps that he likes me.

[ She scratches between the ears on two of his heads. ]

Did you have a pet before arriving here?

I had-- had, very briefly-- an owl.

[ Beau screws up her face at the memory. It wasn't supremely positive, but it wasn't terrible either. ]

Thaddeus. He was kind of a jerk. Left me pretty quick. I took care of him okay, I just didn't train him well. So...

An owl? I haven't known anyone that's been able to keep an owl other than Athena. But they are also her sacred animal.

[ She looks amused as Beaus talks about the owl. ]

I suppose sometimes some people just aren't meant for keeping animals.

Yeah, maybe. [ She shrugs, looking at peace with the whole thing, but still just a touch wistful. ]

It would have been awkward, too, trying to keep him safe when we got into the kind of trouble we did. Jester barely managed to keep Sprinkles, her weasel, alive through a lot of stuff. An owl would have been even worse.

[ Still, it would have been nice to come back to him. He was cool. ]

Who's Athena? I mean, in the pantheon?

Yeah, maybe it is for the best he flew off. [ She doesn't know half of what Beau and company get up to, but if a weasel was having a rough time of it an owl wouldn't have it much better. ]

Athena is one of the Virgin Goddesses. She's the Goddess of Wisdom and War Strategy. She's the only one of us that seems to enjoy Hestia's presentations for T.G.O.E.M.

[ Beau's brows shoot up. ]

Wisdom and War Strategy? Sounds like my kind of lady.

[ She gives a small, smug smile. ]

Maybe she should come here and meet me. See how she thinks of that virgin goddess group then.

[ Funnily enough, the whole vow of chastity thing only matters when it comes to men. And Artemis and Hestia are absolutely a couple...not that Persephone is aware of that.

Persephone looks absolutely panicked at the idea of any of T.G.O.E.M. showing up. ]

No! It's better none of them arrive! [ She'd never get laid again if they did... ]

[ She's anticipating a joking response from Persephone, not a flat out refusal to play. She blinks. ]

What? It's not impossible to navigate this place while knowing people from home. I mean, I manage and I'm in a house full of dudes who have seen my naked ass. ...Probably.

The guys you're housing with aren't opposed to sex. They don't make your life miserable just because a man has taken an interest in you.

The rules are very strict, no men. Ever. The rule is even stricter for me because of my mother. They would absolutely try to uphold that here and make my life miserable. Especially Hestia. I'd never get a moment to myself as long as she was here.

[ Maybe Athena would be a bit more understanding.. And Artemis would judge her for everything she's already done since she takes the whole no sex thing even more seriously than the others. ]

[ Beau listens, but she obviously seems less scared by the whole thing than Persephone. She doesn't know these goddesses personally and has never been harassed by them. But just hearing about it ticks her off. ]

Then I give them a piece of my mind and my fists and you tell them to fuck off. There's only so much they can do in this place, right? And they're stuck to the same rules we are.

[ Persephone frowns, now a little worried for Beau's own safety if that's how she'd plan to deal with goddesses. ]

Unless the Augur sees fit to make them as powerless as me, they would not hesitate to smite you.

[ Beau's eyes roll in a sort of searching way, like she's looking for an answer to her own impending question in the sky. ]

And why... wouldn't it make them as powerless as you? That seems to be the thing.

Not everyone loses their abilities.

[ She figured Beau knew this considering how many people she's living with. ]

And when I say smite, I don't exactly mean they'd kill you. Our punishments are often...creative.

No, but... you did and they'd be from your world. And goddesses to boot. Seems like the Augur would want them at least slightly depowered, to keep things going the way it wants.

[ Beau shrugs though, seemingly unmoved by Persephone's warning. ]

Well I wouldn't be telling them off by myself, would I?

Did everyone from your world lose their abilities? Did Aphrodite lose her abilities?

[ She'd ask about other dieties but she doesn't know of any others around. ]

Oh, no. [ She shakes her head, clearly terrified by the idea of actually confronting the older goddesses. Cerberus seems to pick up on this and whines softly. ]

No, but the ones that didn't, their abilities aren't the smiting type. [ This seems important to point out. ] They don't get us off the island. Or destroy the Augur. Or do anything like that. So...

[ Yeah, maybe she's being too cavalier, but Vax is a favored of the Raven Queen and the Nein helped keep a Betrayer God in chains. So. ]

But you gotta. Otherwise they'll stomp all over you.

I did say smiting was creative. As in, usually turning people into an animal or something. [ Because killing people for slighting them is too easy. ] Or forcing them to fall in love with someone or something they'd never fall in love with.

With any luck, they'll never turn up here. In fact, it'd be better if no one from home showed up here.

Oh, well if it's not death... [ Beau's pretty sure she's experienced worth than a Polymorph spell or emotional aphrodisiacs. And she has the support system of the Nein at her back, should anything happen to her in her stupidity. ]

If you say so. I know there's some people I would not like to see here, too, that's for sure.
