[ He looks up at the green man, confused for a moment before he speaks. Fjord. It's a good name, and he mouths it slowly while giving the smallest, unsure smile. He touches Fjord's chest with a shaky hand, hesitant at first but then spreading his fingers in dark chest hair. ]
Em... empty?
[ It doesn't come out, though, and he makes a frustrated sound. It seems like the only thing his voice knows, because it is such an all-consuming feeling inside. ]
[ He watches Fjord kiss his hand with wonder, and then turns it like he's expecting a mark on his skin. There's a shaky smile there, because it feels nice. Soft, just like the expression of the man's face.
The man - Fjord - asks if he wants to get back in the bed, and Molly looks up at it. It had scared the hell out of him to wake up in an unknown bed like that, but it is cold. He's not even wearing any clothes? Confused, he touches his own chest a bit, scars traced under his fingers.
Finally, he looks up at Fjord again and gives a small nod. Maybe being in the bed will be less disconcerting? ]
Okay, love, up we go. You're all chilly, that's not good ... maybe we should grab you your coat, that things thicker than it looks.
[ Helping Molly up and into the bed, Fjord arranges the blankets into a burrito around his broken boyfriend to cover him up, dropping a kiss on his head again. He points to the wardrobe, then rubs his arms to mimic a shiver. ]
[ Molly curls up in the bed, a little distracted by the fairy lights and the colors that he had woken up to. Now seeing them in a better mood, it was pretty rather that confusing.
He's grateful for all the blankets to cover up with, the bed almost a nest of pillows, blankets and furs. It's comforting, and so is the kiss to his head again. Molly really likes that one.
The red eyes turn to Fjord again when the man speaks, looking at the shiver-mimicking. He is cold, but he's not sure if it's shock or actual chilliness. His coat, though? What was that? ]
[ Fjord makes his gestures a bit bigger on his way to the wardrobe, shoving aside the scanty clothes Molly has for his heavily embroidered red coat. Maybe it will help to surround him with familiar things, Fjord doesn't know. He can only try and hope memories of the circus will jog the blank slate staring at him. ]
Here is it, let's warm you up.
[ Draping it around Molly's shoulders, he puts a corner of the sleeve into a lavender palm and pats it, sitting close at his side. ]
This is yours, okay? Molly has a coat. Molly's coat. You keep this, stay warm. I should find you some pants, too ...
[ The thing Fjord drapes him in is a world of colors, and his eyes widen as he's given a sleeve to touch. It's soft, threadbare in some areas and moon print faded a little, but it is really nice. It smells like incense and him.
Molly's coat.
It doesn't draw forth any memories of who he is, but he likes it. It's comfortable. ]
...empty.
[ Molly reaches to take Fjord's hand with a little smile, trying to make the big man feel better in the middle of his own literal existential crisis. ]
[ He brushes back Molly's hair from where it tangled around his horns in the night, gently freeing up his face from the mess with his other hand as the other squeezes Molly's. ]
I think I can try and heal you, even if it won't do much ... I want to give it a go and see what happens. Will you let me try and help, Molly? Do you understand?
[ He brings his hand out of Molly's hair and holds Cure Wounds in his hand, a soft turquoise light warming to life in the middle of his palm like a soft firefly. ]
[ Things are so confusing, but Fjord is gentle. He knows how to untangle his hair, squeezes his hand. Whoever Molly was, he was important to this man. It makes him wish he could remember him even more, but his head is such a mess. Colors, sounds, emptiness.
Help? He hears healing and helping and Can Fjord help Molly? and he gives a slightly uncertain nod to that. His head is hurting badly from overstimulation and shock, so maybe it could help. ]
[ Slowly, showing him the level-five spell he holds, he coos It's okay, Fjord is helping, and places his hand on Molly's chest to settle the casting inside him. The glow turns seafoam-warm like the waters of the Lucidian ocean on Molly's skin, spreading through his limbs in waves for (34 pts of) a decent amount of healing.
Fjord waits in trepidation to see what effect, if any, it has. ]
[ It feels nice. Warm, comfortable. The glowing light is really pretty, too, and any remaining bruises from last evening's sparring disappears. The confused, naked look on Molly's face does not. ]
Empty?
[ He asks, putting his hand on top of Fjord's again and wiggles it like he wants there to be more. It didn't work. There's still such an open void inside him that he doesn't understand. ]
[ Another swell of that wonderful feeling, but no memories. No focal point of his rushing, discombobulated thoughts or recognition of anything. Just that blank, somewhat concerned look on a lavender face.
He shakes his head with frustration, fingers digging into the skin by the horns as he tries to force anything out. ]
Empty... empty!
[ It's so strange, so frightening and weird. Why can't he remember? ]
[ He tries to capture Molly's hands and bring them into his lap. ]
You're going to be okay, I promise! Shit. I can't ... I can't heal this, I'm sorry, but I'll stay while Molly is ... is empty. Hey, look, [ kissing Molly's hands, ] Fjord loves Molly, okay? Molly safe.
[ Molly lets Fjord take his hands and just slumps a bit, unsure about everything. This is all terrifying, but the green man is very kind and that is helping to take the worst feelings away.
Fjord loves Molly.
He loves this Molly... the person he can't remember. Fjord wants to keep him safe, and it draws a small nod out of the tiefling. He is safe here, he knows it. It isn't a cold grave on the side of a road.]
[ Softening his expression so as to give Molly something other than worry to pick up on, he wraps his arms around him in the coat and nuzzles his temple, dropping a kiss there. ]
Molly is clever, it'll be alright. You're so smart, love, you'll be okay. This is scary but you're here and nothing will hurt you, I won't let it. Fjord protects Molly. Always.
[ Is it reassurance for himself too? Yes. ]
I'll figure out what went wrong and you'll be fine. Are you hungry? I'll have to go away for a few minutes to find food, but I'll come back ...
[ The hug is nice, but he definitely doesn't melt into it like Molly usually does. Instead he's a little stiff and confused, but smiles slightly at the kiss to his head. That was his favorite.
Fjord tells him he's safe again, and he's right. It feels safe right here - from everything other than his head. There's a gaping void in him, thousands of memories gone. A person, just erased with nothing left but instincts. It's frightening, and he's not sure that's something that can be protected against.
At the mention of food, the tiefling furrows his brows a bit. He is a little hungry, but he shakes his head. ]
Empty.
[ He holds on to Fjord's hand worriedly. Please don't leave him alone. ]
Okay. Okay, baby, I won't go anywhere. I can let everyone else know to bring you something when they wake up, that'll work.
[ Leaning to get his device off the bedside table, he leaves a quick message. After that he sits back and pats his side, coaxing Molly to get comfortable since they're in it for the long haul until someone notices the voicemail. ]
[ He's not sure what or who the other words were for and he's even more confused now. It's fucking exhausting to take in so many new things at once - from lights and colors to the fact that someone named Fjord really likes someone named Mollymauk who he is supposed to be.
The tiefling pauses a bit when he's asked to come, wrapping himself up more in the coat and clumsily scooting over. ]
It's going to be a little while before someone hears what I said, they're all asleep or busy. We're okay, though. Here, [ at least there is a glass of water on the bedside table he can offer him, ] take a sip. It might help you calm down.
I'll tell you about us, shall I?
[ Waiting to gauge what Molly wants when he's unanchored. ]
[ Oh, water! Suddenly he's just parched and happily reaches for it, taking a long sip. It was cool to the touch and easy to focus on, so he keeps the glass in his hands for now.
When the man says he'll tell him about them, once-Molly blinks and looks at Fjord with a questioning face. ]
Empty?
[ He both wants and doesn't want to know, because the disconnect here is so strange. He has no memory of this person, no feelings of love that he can fully understand. He just knows that he likes being near him, and that Fjord's scent is soothing. ]
[ Watching him guzzle the water, he smooths a hand up and down the back of that coat, tidying the purple curls at the nape of a neck. ]
I'll take that as a 'sure, go ahead'.
[ Where to start? ]
I'm Fjord and I love you, and ... you love me, I think, but it's okay if you don't remember that. I love you anyway. You've made me very happy for a long time so I'll be here as long as you need me ...
[ And if Molly doesn't, well. Shit. ]
Your name is Mollymauk Tealeaf. You're a tiefling so you have horns and a tail, but I'm a half-orc so I don't.
[ All the touches are both nice and weird in one, but he decides to lean into it being good. Everything about this person has been sweet and gentle and kind, so it must be okay... right?
Sitting back a bit to unsquish his tail (flat and limp, not swaying confidently like Molly's used to), the tiefling runs his fingers over the side of the glass as he listens to Fjord talk about his love. How he'll be here for him even if he doesn't remember a damn thing about Fjord. Is that what love is like?
His name is Mollymauk Tealeaf, the other man reminds him again. It's a really pretty name, he has to admit that. Pretty like the coat.
The mention on tieflings and half-orcs draws another small smile, and he nods a little. This, he somehow knows. He's a tiefling. That's instinct. Half-orc, though... leaning forward, he tries to poke a tusk. ]
[ That makes him chuckle, relieved some part of Molly is bleeding through in his boldness, however slowly it is in rearing its head. He pulls down his lip to show him the tusks, the teeth around them a little chipped. ]
You've got some sharp teeth but you don't have to brush these bad boys every morning. Uh, I suppose, our ears are different too.
[ He pokes his ear and the backwards slant of it, an opposite direction to the curl of Molly's. ]
But none of that matters, I wouldn't want to be the boyfriend of another halforc if you paid me. Not when I have you.
[ He pokes the tip of the tusk a bit, smiling when he realizes it isn't sharp like his own teeth. Then the confused tiefling touches his own ear, almost getting tangled in his horn as he does so.
They're very different, but Fjord really loves Molly despite that. It's nice to know, and less nice to think that this person he loves is gone. he's trying so hard to remember, but there's nothing.
Sighing, he leans a bit against the half-orc and curls his tail close. ]
