[ Molly lets Fjord take his hands and just slumps a bit, unsure about everything. This is all terrifying, but the green man is very kind and that is helping to take the worst feelings away.
Fjord loves Molly.
He loves this Molly... the person he can't remember. Fjord wants to keep him safe, and it draws a small nod out of the tiefling. He is safe here, he knows it. It isn't a cold grave on the side of a road.]
[ Softening his expression so as to give Molly something other than worry to pick up on, he wraps his arms around him in the coat and nuzzles his temple, dropping a kiss there. ]
Molly is clever, it'll be alright. You're so smart, love, you'll be okay. This is scary but you're here and nothing will hurt you, I won't let it. Fjord protects Molly. Always.
[ Is it reassurance for himself too? Yes. ]
I'll figure out what went wrong and you'll be fine. Are you hungry? I'll have to go away for a few minutes to find food, but I'll come back ...
[ The hug is nice, but he definitely doesn't melt into it like Molly usually does. Instead he's a little stiff and confused, but smiles slightly at the kiss to his head. That was his favorite.
Fjord tells him he's safe again, and he's right. It feels safe right here - from everything other than his head. There's a gaping void in him, thousands of memories gone. A person, just erased with nothing left but instincts. It's frightening, and he's not sure that's something that can be protected against.
At the mention of food, the tiefling furrows his brows a bit. He is a little hungry, but he shakes his head. ]
Empty.
[ He holds on to Fjord's hand worriedly. Please don't leave him alone. ]
Okay. Okay, baby, I won't go anywhere. I can let everyone else know to bring you something when they wake up, that'll work.
[ Leaning to get his device off the bedside table, he leaves a quick message. After that he sits back and pats his side, coaxing Molly to get comfortable since they're in it for the long haul until someone notices the voicemail. ]
[ He's not sure what or who the other words were for and he's even more confused now. It's fucking exhausting to take in so many new things at once - from lights and colors to the fact that someone named Fjord really likes someone named Mollymauk who he is supposed to be.
The tiefling pauses a bit when he's asked to come, wrapping himself up more in the coat and clumsily scooting over. ]
It's going to be a little while before someone hears what I said, they're all asleep or busy. We're okay, though. Here, [ at least there is a glass of water on the bedside table he can offer him, ] take a sip. It might help you calm down.
I'll tell you about us, shall I?
[ Waiting to gauge what Molly wants when he's unanchored. ]
[ Oh, water! Suddenly he's just parched and happily reaches for it, taking a long sip. It was cool to the touch and easy to focus on, so he keeps the glass in his hands for now.
When the man says he'll tell him about them, once-Molly blinks and looks at Fjord with a questioning face. ]
Empty?
[ He both wants and doesn't want to know, because the disconnect here is so strange. He has no memory of this person, no feelings of love that he can fully understand. He just knows that he likes being near him, and that Fjord's scent is soothing. ]
[ Watching him guzzle the water, he smooths a hand up and down the back of that coat, tidying the purple curls at the nape of a neck. ]
I'll take that as a 'sure, go ahead'.
[ Where to start? ]
I'm Fjord and I love you, and ... you love me, I think, but it's okay if you don't remember that. I love you anyway. You've made me very happy for a long time so I'll be here as long as you need me ...
[ And if Molly doesn't, well. Shit. ]
Your name is Mollymauk Tealeaf. You're a tiefling so you have horns and a tail, but I'm a half-orc so I don't.
[ All the touches are both nice and weird in one, but he decides to lean into it being good. Everything about this person has been sweet and gentle and kind, so it must be okay... right?
Sitting back a bit to unsquish his tail (flat and limp, not swaying confidently like Molly's used to), the tiefling runs his fingers over the side of the glass as he listens to Fjord talk about his love. How he'll be here for him even if he doesn't remember a damn thing about Fjord. Is that what love is like?
His name is Mollymauk Tealeaf, the other man reminds him again. It's a really pretty name, he has to admit that. Pretty like the coat.
The mention on tieflings and half-orcs draws another small smile, and he nods a little. This, he somehow knows. He's a tiefling. That's instinct. Half-orc, though... leaning forward, he tries to poke a tusk. ]
[ That makes him chuckle, relieved some part of Molly is bleeding through in his boldness, however slowly it is in rearing its head. He pulls down his lip to show him the tusks, the teeth around them a little chipped. ]
You've got some sharp teeth but you don't have to brush these bad boys every morning. Uh, I suppose, our ears are different too.
[ He pokes his ear and the backwards slant of it, an opposite direction to the curl of Molly's. ]
But none of that matters, I wouldn't want to be the boyfriend of another halforc if you paid me. Not when I have you.
[ He pokes the tip of the tusk a bit, smiling when he realizes it isn't sharp like his own teeth. Then the confused tiefling touches his own ear, almost getting tangled in his horn as he does so.
They're very different, but Fjord really loves Molly despite that. It's nice to know, and less nice to think that this person he loves is gone. he's trying so hard to remember, but there's nothing.
Sighing, he leans a bit against the half-orc and curls his tail close. ]
[ Oddly, he can recognise the tone in the word. Having spent so long with Molly by his side for the past half-year, it's not so difficult even with only one word at Molly's disposal. ]
It's okay, sweetheart. I'll fix this. I don't know what's happened to you but I'm not going anywhere.
[ His arms wrap around him in a hug, nosing at his hair to drop kisses there. Just as Fjord is rubbing Molly's arm the device goes off with a message from Gilmore which Fjord gratefully responds to, smiling down at Molly. ]
Hey, Gilmore's going to bring us something to eat, isn't that nice of him? Your favourite drink, too. Hot cocoa!
[ If he doesn't stay positive, Fjord isn't sure how he will cope with this. Knowing Gilmore is on the way is a big relief. ]
[ The man is gentle again, soft and kind in his words. There are kisses on his head, arms around him and he doesn't recognize any of it. It's so strange. He pulls away a little bit as the thing Fjord was talking to beeps, confused for moment and tail finally making a small sway under him.
'Molly' doesn't know what hot chocolate is, but maybe it would help. He'll do anything just to make his head stop hurting so much.
Nodding, the tiefling takes Fjord's hand again. For both of them. ]
[ He sighs and gives a small whine as he's kissed, gesturing to his head. It hurt so much, overwhelmed and stressed out of his soul from all of this. Formerly-Molly is both sad and frustrated in one, feeling like he wants to kick something and cry at the same time.
How was he supposed to deal with this?
Instead he just buries his head in Fjord's chest, hiding himself from everything else. If he can't see it, it won't make his brain tired. ]
[ He doesn't, he can't, but he can imagine a little of what Molly is going through when, months and months ago, Fjord forgot himself for a while too. His memory of that is weak but he holds onto Molly and strokes his hair all the same, hands rubbing over his back to give him something gentle to focus on. ]
[ Shaun balances a tray in one hand as he gently knocks on the door to Fjord and Molly's room. He's rarely been here staying mostly to the Wizardhaus but Fjord had seemed so distressed.
He knows what it's like to lose a love. He doesn't want Fjord to go through that pain alone. ]
It's Shaun. [ He pokes his head in, his voice soft and gentle, not his usual booming exuberance. ] I brought you a little something to drink and snack on.
[ He stands in the doorway and uses mage hand to send the tray over to the pair in bed. ]
[ The knock startles the empty soul and even more so when someone new enters. (So many colors, purple, purple like him!) He jerks away from Fjord's arms and instead hides behind the half-orc, pulling the coat tight around himself. ]
E-empty?
[ His voice is quiet and lacking any hints of the confident, bright person he used to be, now reduced to one word and a mind that is overwhelmed - like a newborn child, yet adult at the same time. ]
It's okay, Molly! It's just Shaun. See? Just Shaun.
[ Fjord wraps an arm backwards around what he can feel of Molly, looking to Shaun with a silent plea for help. I have no idea what happened! his widened eyes yell, while outwardly he keeps his voice low and steady. ]
Thank you for the food, we were getting sooo hungry. Hello, Shaun! Have you met Molly ... ?
[ Gently emphasising the name as he pats Molly behind, the stage-voice he uses is purposefully light. ]
[ Molly's still unsure, but seems to calm a bit thanks to Fjord's reassurance and Shaun's calmness. He blinks at the mention of purpleness, looking down at his hand with a small smile and then showing it to the sorcerer happily.
He knows purple. He knows lavender and violet and plum. ]
[ Holding back a sigh, he wraps an arm around Molly to resettle him and gives Shaun a significant look. ]
Maybe we can introduce him to the Clerics once he's not so jumpy. [ The tray is brought closer and Fjord taps Molly on the arm to point it out, continuing to talk to Gilmore. ] Thank you for doing this, it's a massive help.
Yes, you are incredibly fabulous Molly. It's why you're one of my favorite people. You are not afraid of color and that's a wonderful thing.
[ Since Fjord doesn't feel the clerics are necessary, Shaun stops messaging. ]
Anything you two need today, you can ask me. I'm happy to help. [ Truly, he is. He can't imagine how unsettled and scared those two must feel right now. If he can do something as simple as this, he will. ]
[ The tiefling is still hiding a bit behind Fjord, only poking his head out a little under Fjord's soothing arm. He's so very different from the confident person he's been before, making himself small rather than taking up space with his personality. ]
Empty.
[ Molly says in return to Shaun's words, and is then distracted by the food. Curiously, he he picks at the offered breakfast and puts a piece of bread in his mouth. It's good, but his nose leads him to the hot cocoa. He picks the mug up and disappears with his treat behind Fjord's body again. ]
