It's not in motion, it's stuck where we last directed the ship.
He steps up behind him, swaying against Molly's back to follow the gentle swell of the waves beneath them, docked though they are. His chin finds a shoulder as he covers his hands on the pegs. ]
This is portside because of where the wharf is. See how we're docked? And if we went hard to starboard, it would be the other way because we'd be chasing stars to the right where the open sea is.
Exactly! On all fronts. If you want to make us go in a circle sometime, sure, just hang on the wheel, although it might hurt your weedy little arms ... !
[ Molly squeaks at that and swats at Fjord, shaking his head at the half-orc and sticking his tongue out at him. He makes another attempt at moving the rudder, but to no avail.
Instead he wipes his hands on his pants and then looks out over the ship. ]
So you stand up here all the time being all special, huh? Yelling at everyone to moor the sails or whatever?
[ What a cute little bastard. Fjord is in so deep with this jackass, he feels it in his bones as he grins at Molly tugging fruitlessly on the wheel. ]
You're so right, honey, that's exactly what I say. [ He slips a hand into Molly's, tugging him back to the stairs. ] Want to see the captain's quarters?
[ Molly says, knowing he's being teased. He takes that hand and pulls himself into a hug, curiously looking over the boat with that delighted look on his face he has when he's experiencing something new. ]
Yes! I was to see everything, I want to climb the ropes, look at the very belly, everything!
[ He squeezes him during the hug, changing tack and leading him not to the captain's quarters first but the main stairs to the gun deck. It's sunny between all the shadows, and the canons look impressive save for the paintballs stocked next to them. It's still big enough that even Fjord can walk at full height. ]
Down here's where the fighting gets done, when we have canonballs the ship is a bad bitch to contend with. I'll pay for some on a square, it came from the Augur stocked with ... those.
[ Molly eagerly follows along, and is quick to walk out on the gun deck, curiously poking a cannon and listening to Fjord explaining everything. The lack of cannonballs explains the paint things (and he's definitely stealing one or two somehow to throw them at Veth).
He spots a hammock between the cannons and the sees even more of them, glancing back at his boyfriend. ]
They did, still can if they don't want to take a snooze downstairs. You're on one of the biggest galleons there is and we have a few bedrooms converted. Come on, there's more!
[ Taking the next ladder down, the lighting is far dimmer save for what filters in through the portholes, murky blue water showing the sea around them. Fjord takes Molly down the narrow corridor, opening doors as he goes. ]
Brig's at the back, these were storerooms we made into bedrooms. They're small, but they're better than swinging around on the gun deck. [ The rooms have space for a bed and a bit to undress, nothing else. Still, there are two on either side of the hallway.
He gestures to the front of the ship, crouching a little. ]
Down there's the cargo hold, the orlop deck, and the ship's stores. If you're hungry or thirsty, that's the place to go. Try not to drop any lights, Veth has a habit of carrying that explosive black powder on her and dropping little bits of it.
[ Molly slides down the ladder to join Fjord, smiling as he explains this and that to the tiefling. It might be nonsense to him, but it's definitely something Fjord loves and that means the world to him. Seeing him happy and in his element was wonderful. ]
The brig, isn't that like a jail? [ He asks remembering some stories and then leaning over a crouched half-orc to watch what else he's talking about. ]
What the hell an 'orlop'? [ Molly asks, almost to himself. ] ...and who let Veth near black powder?
It is! And no one lets Veth do anything, you know that.
[ He sidles over, an arm around Molly's waist as the ship creaks and groans softly around them. ]
Orlop's the lowest part of the ship. Rum and water are at the front of the guns, in point of fact, in case you're thirsty. In case we get a leak I'd rather we didn't lose the alcohol first. Do you want to see the infirmary above?
Fair, fair. [ Molly acquiesces, because nothing could stop that woman. He leans a bit into the nice hold instead, still getting used to the ship making sounds, especially down here rather than on the deck. It's deeper and moanier.
He snorts a bit at the smart way to save the alcohol and then looks at the ladder again. ]
[ Mmm, smooches. Molly smiles as that finger jingles some jewelry with the affection. Of course he looks amused when he hears the name of the deck the navigation room is in, and even though Fjord immediately explains, he's chuckling. ]
You have to tell that one to Jester. [ He pats Fjord's ass and then starts moving, excited to see more ]. You need a whole room for navigating?
[ Molly's definitely into secret kisses in the belly of a boat like this, happy to have another. He's really starting to like it, even if the soft sway of the floor is a little disorienting. ]
There's a balcony on a boat?
[ He keeps getting more surprised and excited the more Fjord shows him. ]
It's huge. We'll fit the whole island on this thing!
[ Molly shields his face a bit as they reach the deck again, before looking up at the beautiful sky. He really likes this boat and how happy it makes Fjord, and he's excited to go sailing one day. ]
Well, we'll fit all our people on it, and that's what matters in an emergency. this way, sailor-mauk.
[ Fjord leads him into the rooms of the main deck, gesturing to the two smaller bedrooms on either side of the corridor labelled First-Mate and Navigator. The corridor winds around a corner and then they're at a much fancier door than the others which declares Captain's Quarters. Inside, the sunshine pours through the balcony doors that have been flung wide, maps flutter under their paperweights on the main table, and the rugs covering the floor are a mishmash from all over Exandria. There's a shrine to the Wildmother by the door, a heart shaped like Aphrodite's sigil nailed high above the bed, and the bed itself is big enough for Fjord, a two-poster with drapes that can be drawn around for privacy if needs be. Currently, it looks vaguely made and has some of Fjord's clothes draped on the end.
Everything is dark wood and brass, the sound of the blue sea hushing back and forth outside. It's airy and spans the entire width of the ship, which isn't huge but is bigger than any other bedroom Molly has yet been shown.
[ The comment of 'our people' doesn't sit right with Molly at all, and he has to hide his reaction (16!). The thought of leaving people behind in a crisis just isn't his thing, especially if they have a big boat like this... but he could just get everyone if needed. He knows it is here and can fit everyone.
For now, he doesn't want to get into that argument - he wants to see Fjord show him his second (or fifth) love.
The Captain's Quarters are impressive and he runs into the middle of it with a big grin, taking in the place. Rugs from all over, little hints from all of Exandria, shrines to half-orc's deities... papers and weird things and gorgeous windows and the balcony...
He runs out on that as well, leaning over the railing to look at the blue waters outside. Molly loved the sunny days, and this seemed like the perfect place to be. There's rays of sunlight making the water glitter and a nice, sturdy and comfortable place inside.
[ Molly looks like he wants to talk about the passengers situation but decides better of it, which is fine by Fjord; the ship doesn't have provisions for everyone on the island, nor would they fit.
As he strolls in behind Molly, he has a weird moment of deja vu from when he saw Avantika in the same space, but whereas she was bathed in moonlight and grimly thrilled Molly is cheerful as a bug in dirt and flooded in sunshine.
The difference is stark.
He walks up behind him and wraps his arms around him, chin on a shoulder away from a horn. ]
You can sleep here whenever you want, even if I'm not here.
[ Molly says happily, leaning against that broad chest as he looks at the sunlight through the stained glass, leaving a perfect little colored plot right on that bed. He's definitely going to go sleep here on the evenings of sunny days so he can watch the sunset on the balcony and then slink into the bed to feel the water roll gently underneath.
It felt almost like being in a vardo, and that took him back to simpler times. ]
I'm so happy I get to see it. Something you love so much.
I love you more. More than this ship, more than a lot of things. Most things.
[ He watches Molly, side-eying him as blue waters lap far below the balcony. Fjord gives him a squeeze, thinking of how cold Lucien was, how he stood in the middle of that dark space and dropped the body of someone he and the Tomb Takers had killed, how unruffled and cold he was.
"A fragment, a speck."
Fjord waits until those red eyes that belong only to Molly meet his. ]
I could have fallen for you if you'd stayed with us. I think I might have.

If I said "hard to starboard", you'd have to throw your whole weight against this thing to make us turn sharply. Maybe get someone else to help.

Better ask Yasha or Jester for that, I don't have the build. If I do hang on it though, would the boat eventually just go in a circle?
