Oh, yeah. One sec!

[ The entire process of actually getting on the ship from the plank takes an embarrassing amount of time, even with the sensible shoes. It's clear from the get go that Lottie's never been on a ship quite like this, if the weird way she stares at the floorboards once she's on it is any indication. ]

So, what's the inspo behind this?

[ He's half-ready to cast Water Breathing if she falls, but she doesn't and survives the gangplank to ask him more of her usual weird questions. He doesn't bat an eye at translating her oddly cool vocabulary anymore, although he does feel a bit old. ]

If you mean, why did I ask for it, I just wanted somewhere familiar where all my friends could come in an emergency to get off the island. Quill has his starship, after all.

[oomfies]

[ Her brows raise quizzically at the mention of Quill and a starship, intrigued enough to ponder over it for all of two seconds (she feels she would've seen this, but also - Lottie never leaves the house) before moving onto the more interesting topic. ]

So you guys were adventurers and pirates, specifically..

[ And then, she makes an expression like she just figured something genius out. ]

No wonder you're obsessed with the sea!

Accidentally pirates, and I'm not obsessed with the sea. I grew up in a port, what do you expect?

[ He gives her a flat look, strolling around the deck. It's a large ship, big enough that he can wander around the masts as they talk. ]

[oomfies]

[ There's a bit of a pause before Lottie decides to just.. Tag along and follow him, for better lack of anything else to do other than standing and feeling the slight sway to the ship as its docked. ]

..I mean, I don't know. You never really told me that before?

I grew up in Port Damali, it's on the Menagerie Coast. Hot as hell. Bright flowers, spicy dishes, goods from all over Exandria find their way there.

[ He takes the stairs to the quarter-deck above. ]

I worked on a ship like this as soon as I came of age at fourteen.

[oomfies]

[ Well.. That definitely checks out in the fantasy department she always expects from Fjord. Port Damali.. Exandria. Spicy dishes, flowers (ew). And, more importantly, boats. Lottie lingers by the stairs, stares at the water as she speaks. ]

Did you guys go anywhere cool?

[halforc]

We did! [ He leads the way up to the deck where the wheel is, leaning on one side; it's stationary, won't move while the ship is anchored. ] Mostly ferrying around goods, we did some honest work from port to port. Eventually one of the sailors blew up the ship though, and we were wrecked.

[oomfies]

[ Hmm. That sounds certifiably like an awful thing to go through, being so young (if he was still that young.. Probably, she thinks). It makes her face scrunch ever so slightly, even with the nice deck on display he's earned. ]

So ferrying around [ She scratches at her nose, a slight quirk to her lip. ] regular old goods wasn't doing it for you. Too normal?

They were good enough for me, not for some.

[ He cocks his head at her, nods to the wheel. ]

Why don't you take a picture of yourself? This is a good backdrop, isn't it?

[oomfies]

Really?? Is that okay?

[ She asks this only to make it seem like she isn't excited at the prospect of a nice photo of something truly vintage. Also, it's cool? Lottie shuffles around in place for a moment before turning completely to the wheel, trying to figure a pose.

In the end, she ends up doing something more dad-esque: leaning against the wheel like a complete tourist. The look would almost be complete if she had a fanny pack. ]

Should I do it like this you think?

[ He watches her pose and slump, stepping up behind her when she asks his opinion. ]

Let me see.

[ His hair brushes all through hers as he leans forward to tilt the angle she's holding the camera at. Fjord adjusts it, an arm on the wheel to bracket Lottie in. ]

... There, that's better.

[oomfies]

[ Lottie, increasingly, becomes distracted once she realizes Fjord is taking a hands on approach to this photo contribution. It's new, being so close to him like this - she thinks it's because he's infinitely more comfortable on this ship of his, or maybe it's a testament to how they're not so much enemy as they are friends now.

Which, is nice, but it sure makes for a scrambled brain. Now, she's realizing he's rather.. Wide? Big? Scruffy? Buff?? Thick, maybe??? Lottie is no longer looking at the lens, but turning her head to stare Fjord's way, quiet, contemplative. Also: embarrassed. ]

Did you.. Um.. Is.. [ She ventures, with little success, tongue-tied because they're rather close and she has to tilt her chin up to talk at him. ] Selfie??

Is that what it's called? Alright, let's take a selfie.

[ His chin rests atop her head just to annoy her, and he takes the photo. Lowers it for her inspection and approval, since he assumes if it's no good they will be taking more. Fjord stays where he is, analysing how comfortable it is with her between him and the wheel, how she slots back against him so easily ... ]
