Hungry like the wolf~
● WHO: Eskel
wolfwithagoat + various
● WHAT: Eskel's catch-all log for the June event
● WHEN: June
● WHERE: His residence and various other parts of the island
● WARNINGS: Event-centric smut and violence against robots - will add anything particular as it comes up.
((Hit up my event planning thread and we can figure out a starter! For reference sake, Eskel's "house" is the remnants of a wee corner cafe with a covered patio. The latter has become a makeshift stable for Lil Bleater and Scorpion. Most of the patio fence is degraded; he's shored up its holes and weak points with large pieces of debris.))

bros killing bots aww yeah
[Eskel smiles at the other witcher as he twirls his sword to hold it in a reverse grip. It's about as friendly as he's gonna make himself with the threat of crazy robots still looming over them. His eyes move briefly between Geralt's body and face.]
Right back at you. Glad I found you alive though - [He gestures with his free hand to Geralt's lack of armour.] If Vesemir saw you like that, he'd put you on scullery duty in a heartbeat.
[There's a flinch in Eskel's expression at the mention of Vesemir's name - a sign of pain that only another witcher might perceive. His grief is still fresh, but at the same time, death is normal to him, and it's not supposed to be their way to give into such emotions.]

Don't know about you, but I don't usually fuck with armor on.
[ His smirk grows a little as he treads near enough to clap Eskel on the back. ]
Come on. You know it'd take more than a heap of scrap metal to put me down.

[Eskel gives Geralt a smile as he returns the back clap. There's a note of sincerity to the smile that's reserved for very few. He doesn't need to ask if Geralt is injured - he doesn't smell any blood.]
I know. Both dealt with worse. Still, can't say I want to stick around to deal with more of 'em. [He points over his shoulder with a thumb, indicating towards his shelter.] I'll lead.
Speaking of fucking, you filled out any of your A5 squares yet?

He's more than ready to watch Eskel's back though, and nods at his suggestion. He's torn between wanting to eliminate more of the robots and wanting to avoid them entirely, but whatever their intention, he has no doubt that they'll come across more en route. But he's not worried now that they're together. ]
Mhm. A few. Yet to see anything happen, though.
[ Nothing that seemed an obvious result to him, anyway. ]
You?

[Eskel pushes through some particularly thick overgrowth, holding the way open for Geralt.] Not so bad getting laid for free, at least. [It's partly a joke, as he doesn't intend to stay because of free sex. But he's not gonna say it was all awful, either.]
[As slogging through the brush slows them some, a group of bots begins catching up with them. They're not on the witchers yet, but slow and steady wins the race to purge organics.]
no subject
Yeah. Seems like this is the next round.
[ He's not about to complain about getting laid either though, whatever the circumstances.
After a few more steps, Geralt reaches for Eskel's arm, grabbing hold of him just below the elbow. ]
Wait. Do you hear that?
[ Their footsteps are heavy on the ground as they draw closer--at least three, from his estimation. Geralt tilts his head left. ]
Think they're coming from that way.

[Eskel draws his steel sword and, with a glance to his companion, begins silently moving to intercept the robots.]
[When the bots are almost in sight, he nods towards an alleyway, indicating that they can hide there and ambush their opponents. Eskel slinks into it, at the ready.]
((I know we said previously that we'd handwave the fight since RPing battle sequences can be tricky - I'm still cool with that))
handwaving!
While it's more difficult than cutting flesh, their swords hold up to the robots' metal casing. The larger problem is that they don't just die after a fatal wound like organic creatures, and for the most part need their heads or legs removed before they'll stop. But that's well within the witchers' repertoire, and an intense minute of blocking, slashing, and dodging ends with three bots minus heads, and missing several other appendages besides. Geralt straightens after the last one falls, catching his breath. ]
Almost feel bad carving these things up. [ He lowers his sword to his side again, though he doesn't yet move to sheath it. ] Wonder why they suddenly decided to attack?

Think it has something to do with the plants growing in all of a sudden. Last encounter, I heard one of them say, uh, "unauthorized contaminants" or something. It was setting flame to the plants before it noticed me and attacked. [That's the story of how he found out they've gone haywire.]
Whatever it is, we've taken care of these ones. What's say we head back to my shelter?
no subject
[ That sounds pretty bizarre, but Geralt has no idea how these things work. And he's experienced first-hand what the new plants are capable of.
Whatever the case, he gives Eskel a curt nod. He'll be glad to hide out together until these things either calm down or are subdued. ]
Lead the way.

[And so Eskel does lead. Finally, they're on their way out of this circus. His shelter isn't far, but it feels good to walk with his brother-in-arms again in the meantime. He looks forward to Geralt staying with him and getting to catch up. After all, with the threat of the Wild Hunt bearing down on them, there wasn't much time for casual conversation.]
[As they approach the end of the last street, they can hear the sound of Scorpion's hooves, and Lil Bleater...well, bleating. He'd say "almost there", but the animals have said it for him.] Lil Bleater will be glad to see you. Dunno about Scorpion, since our race -
[They turn the corner then, bringing his shelter into view. But what's there is enough to rock Eskel's normally solid composure, at least for a moment. The run-down remains of a cafe have been replaced with a simple, two-storey building. The lower level is an stable and pen that Scorpion and Bleater are clearly enjoying. Though they can't see the upper level, there's a balcony there that overlooks the pen.]
[Eskel stares at the building for a moment, then slowly turns to Geralt.]...it wasn't like this when I left.
