Since she's so eager to look around he doesn't offer her his arm like he usually does with quests. Though, given how she clearly knows Caleb and Essek she probably shouldn't be counted as a guest.
"Thank you. I've only added a touch here and there. I like Essek and Caleb both but their sense of interior design is... a bit dull." He's a man of rich colors and shiny things. The house needed a few touches of it here and there.
"What sort of tea do you like, my dear?" he asks once they reach the kitchen. "Caduceus has been nice enough to leave a few blends here for me."
"I am never boring." Shaun laughs at the idea of being boring. No one had ever called him that in all his life.
"Hmm, let me see." He didn't usually drink sweeter teas but Shaun had some teas that were more fruity. He takes a tin out and offers it to her. "Here, see if this smells like something you'd enjoy."
Jester takes a whiff of the tea tin and then bends to sniff at her basket of goodies. "Mmm, yeah, that should be good together." She sets her basket down on the counter while he busies himself with making tea, and then hops up to have a seat, tail swinging serenely down near the floor.
"I am," Shaun says with a little nod as he fills the tea pot. "Technically a sorcerer, born magical, you know, but I make my living as a very successful business man and enchanting enchanter."
He snaps his fingers and a shower of gold and purple sparks scattered into the air and fell slowly to the ground in a glittering shower. He loves magic and showmanship.
"Occasionally I sponsor and support adventurers. Like Vox Machina, the group Vax was part of. You've met him?" Vax has a way of finding new people to bring home but Shaun shouldn't assume.
"That's really cool. We know an enchanter in Zadash named Pumat Sol, he's a firbolg and he's really nice and also there are four of him"
She doesn't bother elaborating, too busy being dazzled by Gilmore's little display. Jester giggles at the mention of Vax, her cheeks perhaps flushing a shade or two darker. "Yeah, I've met Vax. He's pretty nice."
"You're right. He's pretty. And he's nice." Shaun's tone softens when he talks about Vax. It doesn't surprise him at all that Jester seems to have, at least, a crush on Vax.
Who wouldn't? He's beautiful.
He leans back against the counter while waiting for the water to heat. "I'll make sure to visit this Pumat Sol if I ever get to Zadash. I must keep an eye on the competition."
Jester's intensely curious about these Tal'Doreians, and that's currently manifesting in asking as many questions as possible. Meanwhile, she opens up her basket and pulls out a chocolate-iced doughnut for herself before offering the basket to Shaun.
"I mean, I haven't seen your stuff but Pumat's really good."
"We did. I sponsored his adventures with Vox Machina for many years." And they had been a very good investment. Shaun had so many good memories of those years and some not good ones as well. "We're partners now, something we didn't have a chance for at home."
But they had loved each other for years. This second chance is a gift even though this island is a mess.
"Can your Pumat enchant any spell?" Shaun raises an eyebrow because he's being challenged on his skill and that won't do. "Because I can. Druid. Wizard. Cleric. Nothing is beyond my skill to enchant."
Jester gasps, leaning her chin in the palms of her hands as she surveys Gilmore from across the counter. "Oh my gosh! That's so cute, and super romantic," she gushes, pressing her fingertips into her cheeks.
"I'm going to be totally honest with you, I have no idea. He made me a pink Haversack, and he made a Ring of Fire Resistance, and a pair of night vision goggles for Beau, so..."
"We are disgustingly cute," Shaun says with a wink at her. He is utterly shameless about his love for Vax and loves to brag about it. "I mean, look at him. So terribly adorable. How could we not be cute?"
He nods at her description. All very good enchanted objects, no denying it. And it's a tricky thing to make a Haversack. That takes skill but... it's likely this Pumat isn't a Runechild. "Perhaps he's an artificer, skilled in making magical objects. Different from what I do but no less useful."
"That's true," Jester laughs. She polishes off her doughnut while Shaun muses about the possibilities of Pumat, and then gives a shrug.
"I have no idea, but you sound like you're right!" Sitting up on her knees, she leans forward across the counter, almost childlike. "So. Have you heard of the Traveler?"
"I've heard of many travelers but never one called The Traveler." He can pick up on the importance of the name. She is trying to sell him something. He likes her enough to play along.
He pours the tea into a mug and sets it down in front of her. "I have a feeling you're going to tell me all about them."
And he would listen but doubts she'll convince him of anything. It takes a great deal to sell him on things.
"Only if you want. It's actually a pretty good story."
Jester takes her mug and grabs a cupcake from the basket, methodically opening up the wrapper, tearing the cake in half and making a frosting sandwich out of it before dunking it in her tea.
"But you've barely told me anything about yourself, besides being a fancy sorcerer. What's your favorite food?"
Clearly she loves sweets. Shaun is amused by her method of eating. He prefers to tear off pieces of his and eat them slowly, savor the sweetness.
"It's a dish called kofta from my home country, Marquette. Ground lamb or beef with herbs and spices cooked over an open flame on a stick. It is served with a spicy sauce and flatbread." Shaun sighs as he thinks about it. Maybe he'd claim a reward for those ingredients. Or peppers for Caduceus to grow in the garden. "Sometimes rice too."
"Kof-ta. That sounds super tasty. In Nicodranas we had a lot of stuff like that, too. Plus a ton of fresh seafood."
Gods, she'd give just about anything to be back in Nicodranas with her mama, safe and happy. It makes her heart ache a little bit. "Do you miss Marquet a lot?"
"Oh, Nicodranas. I've talked with Fjord about that place. He saw me smoking hookah and it reminded him of that place. It sounds lovely." He has never made it to Wildemount. What a shame.
After this little adventure he's going to make an effort to do that. Possibly see if he could find the Nein and, well, catch up with friends.
"Not terribly. I have a teleportation circle that takes me home whenever I wish," he explains. Thinking of home makes him smile. "If I get homesick, I simply go. I highly recommend it if you have the means."
"Oh, you have me at never too cold. Emon is chilly and every acts like it's not." He gives an overly dramatic shiver. He really does despise winter. This island's weather is fairly perfect for him.
"He is an amazing wizard. I'm sure he'd be happy to make you something." Shaun doesn't doubt it for a moment. He's often argued for hours with the two wizards. Both are brilliant men. "Seeing the world is fun but there's nothing like home."

"Hmmm...there's a lot of cinnamon and chocolate in here. Do you have any of that vanilla tea? With extra milk?"
no subject

While she did that he got the tea pot ready.

Jester smiles, thinking about a future where she has the time and luxury of just traveling when she feels like it. Gods, she hopes she gets that.
"I bet Caleb would help me out," she replies. "He's amazing at stuff like that."
