While Jiang Cheng can wield Sandu and Zidian at the same time in an emergency, he wasn't prepared for such a situation now, and his sword was in the same hand his ring is on - the same hand that is now trapped in the vines. Yanking with all his strength only tightens the vines' grip, and while he tries to cut with his sword what he can, the vine doesn't give him enough freedom of movement to wave it around much - and he's not ready to let go of his sword just yet, either. After all, while he could send his sword flying, if the vines grab hold of it, too, he'll be in bigger trouble.
He was quite literally caught by surprise, but at least his response after that is fast enough. For the moment, he ignores his new least favorite piece of human trash, trying instead to get free while there's still a chance of doing so: bloody revenge can always follow. Using the vine's grip to his advantage, Jiang Cheng jumps up and kicks out in the hopes of getting the vine to let go, either in pain or by distracting it. While up there, he'll try to take Sandu with his still-free left hand, trying to dodge the vines' attempts to ensnare both his kicking legs and grabby hand.
It's just a shame that there's not a whole lot he can actually do: his right arm is stuck from the beginning, and he only has so much space to move, especially with the other man so close and possibly trapped right there with him. Sooner or later, 'helped' by his new 'friend' or not, Jiang Cheng is going to get another limb stuck in the vines, and that will be the end of his ill-conceived escape attempt.]
