[That's it! The moment Jiang Cheng gets free, he's going to do a murder. Ideally slowly, and inch by inch.
But fine. That's just more reason to get free, anyway, isn't it? Not an idiot (by most if not all definitions of the word), Jiang Cheng doesn't take long to conclude that the harder he pulls, the harder the vines grab hold. Trying it the slow and easy way makes sense, then - but that's also pretty hard when the vines carry his entire weight: he "pulls" on the vines whatever he does.
Still, all he needs is a little extra freedom of movement in his right hand, which he gets by trying to hang his weight mostly from his left leg instead. Then it's just a matter of reaching up with his left hand and avoiding getting that trapped in vines too, so he can grab hold of Sandu and cut himself free the rest of the way.
His progress is frustratingly slow, but he's getting there, little by little.]
