( ball-eater prompts )

( >>a helpful ship layout<< )

a. upper deck.

[ The small wharf that appeared with the Ball-Eater is hardly worthy of a tri-mast galleon and the boarding plank of the dock is a little wobbly as Fjord races aboard, but it holds his weight and ostensibly will for everyone else when they visit. He spends his first few hours inspecting the entire ship, finding it just how he remembers (before it was lost) including the captain's quarters. If ever found on-deck he can be rooted out re-tying the ropes and relaxing as he leans on the railings, choosing to take advantage of the one sunny day a week by having lunch on the quarter-deck, behind the wheel. ]

b. captain's quarters.

[ There's not much of Avantika left anymore, save perhaps the lush mismatched carpets that cover the floor closer to the bed and wardrobe. The round table is littered in the maps Fjord has kept in his Bag of Holding, spread out with heavy shell paperweights, hanging off the table in some cases depending on which he's looking at. The shrine to Uk'otoa on the shelf by the door has been changed into one for the Wildmother (a discerning eye may notice the heart-shaped curl of driftwood newly nailed over the bed too, since a Paladin of Love has to ... pray somehow), and the balcony doors are almost always flung wide unless it is raining. The room is the largest private one on the entire ship, spanning the entire breadth of the poop-deck, and always smells faintly like the shrine's flowers and coffee. ]

c. stocking up.

[ Not knowing when Vox Nein may need to make a quick getaway from the land, Fjord spends a week storing cargo of salted meats and dried fruits in barrels in the galley, three floors down in the belly of the ship. He does this alongside sorting out fresh sheets for the bedrooms too, informal little rooms for those who don't want to use hammocks on the (currently useless) gun deck, and generally runs down a list of everything they would need if it came to leaving the island. There's the rumoured sea monsters to be wary of but he's confident they could blast their way free of danger; Fjord doesn't want that to happen and then for everyone to starve somehow. During these days he can be found in a thin, sweat-soaked tshirt and pants, striding around busily but happily. ]
